The Cornish Seaweed Company Kelp, also known as Cornish Kombu, is a versatile and powerful ingredient sourced from the cold, nutrient-rich waters of the Atlantic. Sustainably hand-harvested along the rugged Cornish coastline, this organic kelp is a staple of gourmet and health-conscious kitchens alike. Known for its thick, leathery fronds and deep forest-green colour, it offers a rich, savoury "umami" flavour that acts as a natural flavour enhancer for a wide variety of savoury dishes.

Kelp is a nutritional heavyweight, famous for having one of the highest natural concentrations of iodine, which is essential for healthy thyroid function. It is also packed with potassium, magnesium, and calcium. A unique culinary benefit of kelp is its high glutamic acid content; when added to a pot of beans or pulses, it helps to break down complex sugars, making them more digestible and reducing cooking time while adding a sophisticated depth to the broth.

To use, simply add a small piece of dried kelp to your stocks, stews, or rice water during the cooking process. It can also be rehydrated and sliced into salads or stir-frys for a firm, meaty texture. By choosing The Cornish Seaweed Company, you are investing in a product that is minimally processed and raw-dried, ensuring that every 30g pack contains the pure, untainted minerals of the sea.
